Series of four concertos for violin and string orchestra, Vivaldi's Four Seasons are an ode to nature, the countryside, the weather, the way of life of the peasant world in the 18th  century.

Based on poems, probably written by Vivaldi himself, the music is descriptive and affectionately recounts the life  daily ; birdsong, peasant rounds, chased game, harvest...

A narrative work, it speaks wonderfully to the imagination, and this is undoubtedly what has made its immense popularity, propelling it among the major works of Western music.
